• Supple full‑grain leather (VS) : Flexibility and durability.

Step 2: Choice of sole & welt (edge of the sole)

• Leather sole & pads : An authentic touch and a natural feel. 
• Airlite sole (light or dark) : Combines comfort, durability and excellent grip. It provides great comfort. Widely used in podiatry for back or joint problems, airlite offers great cushioning and wears out very slowly, see on the Camargue or on the Madonna for the light airlite sole.
• Honey sole: for thinness and flexibility, as on the Cap or the Maurice.
• Rubber sole : Combines comfort, durability and lightness. It provides great comfort. (As on the Alain).
  

Step 3: Select (or not) a made‑to‑measure option.

• Possibility of a wide foot: I take the length 38 with the width of a 39 or 40.
• Possibility of a high instep: my foot is high, I take the length 38 with the instep of a 39.
